We wanted to conduct case studies with our learners in order to get a better insight of the apprenticeship experience from the perspective of the people who are in training with us. We’ve had some fantastic feedback from our learners about our courses, tutors and experience with SCCU, so we would like to share it with you.

Tell us a bit about your apprenticeship – What do you like best about it?
I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship so far. I especially like the mixture of learning; the online assignments and activities, the valuable one-to-one time with my tutor, and then the learning and skills I pick up on my job.
How did you find your course and why did it appeal to you?
I had been searching for Apprenticeships as college wasn’t for me, and found my course on Indeed. It appealed to me as this enables you to gain real life skills and valuable experience in a professional setting.
Why did you pick SCCU to take your apprenticeship through?
I chose to take my apprenticeship with SCCU as when I researched the company, I enjoyed their website and how they put themselves across. I found that they’re a company that is growing quickly due to their success and I was keen to be a part of it. I read through their story and parts of the blog – it was clear that it was a really positive working environment.
How does your tutor support you?
My tutor is really supportive, I can’t fault her at all. If there is any part of my course I’m struggling with, I simply email or phone her and she will give me an answer almost straight away.
How does your manager support you?
My manager Sarah is very supportive in all aspects of my role at SCCU, she guides me through my daily tasks and answers any related questions that come up. I feel I could approach Sarah with anything and she makes my time at SCCU a very enjoyable experience!
How do you feel about the future? Do you feel you have a plan and have been supported by SCCU?
I feel very positive about my future at SCCU and believe I have a clear vision. I feel that after my 18 month apprenticeship at SCCU I would like the opportunity to stay on working with them and progress onto something else. I feel that my manager and team will support me in whichever route I take.
What would you say to anyone considering an apprenticeship?
I’d tell them to go for it, 100%. It’s such a good way to gain knowledge and experience and as well as that, you’re gaining a valuable qualification. Essentially, an apprenticeship means you can get the training and qualification you want, in a sector that interests you – and you’ll be paid a salary as well!
