Innovative ways of developing your school

Was school the platform for life that inspired you? It was for us, and that’s why we are passionate about the services we have created to support you.

SCCU for Schools

Where possible, we want to create an environment that is right for your staff to allow them to learn where they like at a pace that is right for them. With any partnership it is important to get to know each other first. There is nothing we like more than getting to know you and your needs and working together to create services that make a difference. After all creative is our middle name.

All our provision has been created from listening to feedback from schools and working with teachers to bring them to life. Our training and opportunities can be tailored to your school in a way that works for you. If you feel that we would be a good fit with your school we would love to hear from you. We are ever evolving our menu of training for you to access and would welcome your feedback on what else you would like to see.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships help you to grow your own talent, reduce staff turnover and give your school the skills it needs to succeed.

The beauty with apprenticeship training is that it can be used for new and current staff. They are a tried and tested way to recruit new, and to re-train or upskill existing staff of all ages, levels and experience, in a wide variety of roles.

With apprenticeships now being offered up to degree level in a number of different school settings there is no better time for you to utilise their potential.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Levy: With many schools paying into the Levy this means you have that money ring fenced to be invested in your staff’s development. Even if you don’t pay the Levy Government are kindly covering 95% of all apprenticeship training costs for you.

Employers with an annual pay bill over £3 million, will be required to contribute to the apprenticeship Levy. This is ring-fenced in a digital account to fund apprenticeship training. This means you will have more opportunity to directly drive the skills and training your school needs.

Co-Investment: If you don’t need to pay the Apprenticeship Levy due to having a payroll under £3 million you will fall under the apprenticeship Co-Investment model. This means you will have to make a small contribution of 5% towards the training fees for your Apprentice and Government will pay the rest.

The Cost: The current apprenticeship minimum wage is £3.90 per hour. This also applies if your apprentice is 19 and over and in the first year of their apprenticeship, after that they are entitled to the National Minimum Wage for their age. Wage can be dependent on the industry, location and type of apprenticeship undertaken with schools often paying more than the minimum apprenticeship wage.

Recruitment: If you decided to take on an apprentice on as a new member of staff at your school you can choose to take advantage of our free recruitment service. As part of this we will, advertise your vacancies, shortlist applicants, pre-interview candidates and further talent match to your vacancy from our Talent Bank to try and ensure you only interview the most appropriate people for your vacancy.

Delivery: All learners follow a blended learning programme and are assigned their own work based tutor who supports them throughout their whole apprenticeship/training programme. As an employer you are also assigned your own relationship manager to support you.
