There’s long been an untrue perception that apprenticeships are generally in the manual industry such labouring and warehouse work, but apprenticeships are fast becoming the new steppingstone to your career in almost any sector.

Now you can get an apprenticeship in almost anything from engineering to becoming an apprentice chef and here at SCCU we offer lots of apprenticeships in the education, business and sport sectors. We offer some apprenticeships that you may not have considered or you may not have even known of their existence;  I’ll give you a short summary of three exciting apprenticeships, the qualifications and potential progression routes. 

  1. Community health and sport officer – Level 3

The course: As a community health and sports officer you will play a role in initiating behaviour change in local residents, (such as at youth groups,) with regards to engagement in sport and physical activity across local communities. The qualification will allow you to gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles of behaviour change and give you an ability to adapt delivery in order to suit different groups in society, as well as knowledge of how to manage and lead colleagues or volunteers, and practical experience of how to develop and devise appropriate sports or physical activity programmes. 

The qualification: At the end of the course you will achieve a level 3 community health and sport officer apprenticeship, along with;

  • Level 2 Award in Multi-Skills Development
  • Level 2 Understanding the Principles of Behaviour Change
  • Level 2 Certificate in Delivering Community Activities for Youth at Risk

The progression: This qualification is a great start if you’re looking to make an active difference in your community and can be a gateway into further qualifications including (but not limited to)

  • Level 3 Team Leader Apprenticeships
  • Community Development Officer
  • Community Health Officer
  1. Digital marketing – Level 3

The course: As a digital marketing apprentice you will design, build, and implement digital campaigns across a variety of online and social media platforms, in order to drive customer acquisition, customer engagement and customer retention. Gain transferable skills including social media skills, analytical skills, teamwork, and working to briefs.

The qualification: At the end of the course you will achieve a level 3 digital marketing apprenticeship, along with;

  • CIW Site Development

The progression: This qualification is a good way to kick start a marketing or design career and can be a gateway into further qualifications including (but not limited to)

  • Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship
  • Digital Marketing Executive
  • Marketing Coordinator
  1. HR Support – Level 3

The course: Typically, you’ll work in a medium to large organisation as part of the HR function, delivering front line support to managers and employees, but you may also be acting as an HR manager in a small organisation. This qualification helps you develop the skills of handling day to day queries and providing HR advice; working on a range of HR processes, ranging from transactional to relatively complex, from recruitment through to retirement.

The qualification: At the end of the course you will achieve a level 3 HR Support apprenticeship 

The progression: This qualification will help with your experience in big fast pace working environment or give you the opportunity to take responsibility working closely with people and can be a gateway into further qualifications including (but not limited to)

  • Level 5 HR Consultant Apprenticeship
  • HR Administrator
  • HR Advisor
